Bumz Extra Large: A Rare Generous XL

Bumz logo

Finding a high-capacity diaper that genuinely fits larger bodies can be hard. The Extra Large from Bumz stands out because it covers waists from 46 to 60 inches, a wider top end than many specialty brands’ XL sizes.

The product

  • Maximum absorbency, rated at 11,000 mL, in a white, unisex tape-on brief.
  • Soft plastic backing, elastic waistbands, high leak guards and strong tapes with a wide landing zone.
  • A wetness indicator that changes from yellow to blue when it’s time for a change.
  • Sold as 10-count packs, 40-count cases and two-count samples.
  • Priced at about $36.99 for a 10-pack and $144.99 for a case, at the time of writing (October 2026).

Availability

As a small company, Bumz sometimes sells out of XL packs and cases between shipments. When that happens you can sign up for a restock notification or pre-order, and the two-count sample is a good way to check the fit in the meantime. See bumzdiapers.com for current stock.

Need even bigger?

For waists beyond 60 inches, look at bariatric medical briefs. Tranquility’s 4XL/5XL Air-Plus fits up to about 108 inches, and Attends makes bariatric briefs from 2XL to 5XL.

How to judge it for yourself: Manufacturer capacity figures are a starting point, not a promise, and different brands measure them differently. The best test is a few nights or days of real use. Fasten the tapes snugly with the lower pair angled upward, check that the leg guards stand out, and note how long it lasts before you feel dampness. If it leaks, try the next size or add a booster before writing it off. Keep notes on fit, comfort, noise and skin condition so you can compare it fairly with other products you try.

Smart shopping checklist: Confirm your size with a sample first, then compare the cost per diaper across packs, cases and subscriptions. Check whether the retailer ships in plain packaging and how the charge will appear on your statement. Look for HSA or FSA eligibility if you have an account, and read the return policy before ordering, since opened hygiene products generally can’t be returned. Signing up for brand newsletters is also an easy way to hear about sales first.
